The answer is simply NO!!! Google has placed more emphasis on consistency and relevancy over inbound linking which seems to compromise the integrity of their search results. In other words, Google wants its searcher to find the freshest and most relevant content available as opposed to an older site that contains outdated content but is ranked highly because of paid linking.
