ya know i really wish i could help you on that chloebug but i am in the same boat as you are i've got 3 fantail goldfish of my own sam is just a plain golden orange goldfish 1  & rocket is my calico fantail goldfish 1 & cappy is my redcap oranda fantail goldfish 1& I am trying to still figure it out which one is the females & which ones is the males  i got sam & rocket june 24, 2009 & i got cappy on septemember 6, 2009 there all from petco i called petco yesterday & asked them how do you tell if it's a female or male goldfish & he said to me ma'm i have no ideal on that questioned & went thank you bye i was thinking to myself that stupid idiot doesn't even know & he work's with the aquatic life in the fish department & iam like if your working in thee aquatic life in the fish department at petco then you should know who's the female fish of any kind & who's the male fish of any kind  & i've searched the internet for who's who & it comes up with notta nothing accurate .

found  a video on youtube it's called goldfish female & male  here's the link to watch the video it was really helpful found out i have 2 male fantail goldfish & 1 female fantail goldfish here's the link to the video this will help you tell them apart have fun watching enjoy.
