Going away dinner and gift

My daughter and her family are moving to Oklahoma in June and I am wanting to throw her a small going away dinner. I have one small problem I would like to ask some close family members and her closest friends to help with some of their finances since they have never left home and funds are tight I'm

not sure how to do this as I want it to be a going away gift for her and her family. Any suggestions?

I think that you should not ask in terms of helping with their finances. Rather, you can invite family and friends, recommend that they bring a going-away gift, and suggest that a modest amount of money could be a nice gift for a family trying to start out in a new place. Possibly some of the guests will bring something else. But at least a few guests would likely take the hint and bring a gift check.
