Gmail acount keeps growing

When I'm in the main web page of gmail the size of the accounts keeps growing and growing.why it's not permanent?

Today's increasing use of virtualization technologies -- servers, *storage*, etc. -- in the data center, allows for Google to dynamically allocate storage space in a very flexible manner. Gmail offers more storage than any other no cost web based e-mail service. This is a compelling story for users, and Google evidently wishes to maintain its lead in this area....
