A:

Glissada in aviation is a laser navigation system,used primarily for takeoffs and landings. The beams, being red, can penetrate fog, rain, haze etc to help enhance the accuracy of landings. They were used in the late 60's..don't know if it is a relevent technology any longer, now that there is satellite navigation. A great article on it at Flight Global.com in their archives.
