Glad to get healthy, but now have sagging skin anything I can do?

I have slowly over the last year lost 55 lbs.I have been overwieght for at least 20 years.  I am 55 years old and have about 50 more to loose. I now walk at least 3 times a week 5 miles, and what I would like to know is how to or if I can, tighten my skin on my thighs. I carried most of my weight around my abdomen/midsection I expected to have loose and sagging skin there. The typical Apple shape, but not in my legs which have always been shapely I thought.. Will I now have to do weight training? I am loosing about 2 lbs a week and eating low carbs and using portion control.Drink only water and tea. Am I doomed to have this sagging skin, but being healthy at the same time? Any suggestions?

I wish something like this was around when I was 25, I lost my 55 lbs slowly but easily by walking, hiking and portion control, eating more times a day, but less.  I know it takes a bit of getting use to, but start slow but walk EVERY day.  I walk 5 miles now withing 9 months and starting to jog.  I am 55 now, have been overweight for 25 years.  If you start now, you will not only be doing good things for your self, but inspire your children to grow up doing the same.  Good luck

53 thumbs up

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems some of the elasticity of your skin is gone, as can be expected.

Don't lose heart. You can improve the look and feel of your thighs yet, and good for you for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Most likely the muscle tone will take over some of the sagging and your skin will gradually look better. If this is really the bane of your existence, you might consider surgery to remove the excessive skin, though persoinally I think it's a little drastic to say the least.
