Are you a giver, or a taker?
Really...think about it. Are you the type who is spending your time figuring out how to beat the system? Do you spend money foolishly on trying to win the lottery, or are in involved in gambling because you "know" your turn to win is right around the corner? I'm not asking this to be critical, but to make a point. I know many people who spend their lives just wasting time and spinning in a circle trying to get through it. I have an approach that has worked for me and I guarantee it will work for you, if you are ready for disclipine, and a simple, stress free lifestyle:
Work hard. Don't accept hand out unless it's in dire situations.
Give to the TRULY less fortunate, when it's possible.
Be kind, curtous, and fair to EVERYONE you meet, not just the nice looking people you want to impress.
Keep material things at a minimum.
Be Thankful for what you have and live BENEATH your means. (Most Americans live BEYOND their means).
You don't have to be cheap, just be wise!
Love people. Show empathy for others. Love isn't about stuff, it's about time, patience, and understanding someone.
I just heard a comment on Dr. Laura that I am going to practice:
"The answer to Despair is Purpose"..let's all have a purpose in life by serving others and not being so selfish.
Never give up on someone you can't go a day without thinking about.
And I thought my husband and I were the only one who lived by giving to others! My friends call me cheap because I don't put money aside to spend on shopping at the mall or going to bars with them. My husband and I don't ever go out to dinner because we'd much rather help the homeless people and homless animals with food and water than go out for a meaningless evening. We've been married almost 2 years and have yet to go on a honeymoon because we cannot seem to save. We give what we save because it feels good and we truly believe in good karma. I'm glad to see that there are others like us that give back to the community.

Thank you for sharing those kind words and great advice for us all to follow. I hope that Dr. Laura's words have helped you stay positive and live life to its fullest. They are very inspiring. Thank you again and good luck!
How can you know if something is coming from darkness or from light? Look if there is love. Love is light, is kind, is acceptance, tolerance, forgiveness...Love it is not self seeking. Read 1 Corinthians 13
Hi! It seems that you have gone through a good journey before reaching to your conclusions. I agree, but at the same time I know that some people are not as fortunate to be enlighted yet by what is really important in life. Hopefully, they too will reach it someday! Namaste
Be honest and be true to yourself.
I have been a giver all my life. From the time I came to the U.S. in 1980 until now, I still give to my parents, and close relatives who were and are in need. I feel that God gave me all these graces and I thought it 's a good idea to share what I have with others. I believe that God keeps filling up our sacks with grace if it's not full. If it is full, then He will stop giving His graces because there's no more room to give us. I truly believe in this. I have seen and observed very wealthy people pass away and none of them took their money to the grave with them. They had to leave all those precious possessions here on earth. If they were selfish and not benevolent to the people who are not as lucky and blessed as they are, then they would have to answer to God eventually.
I have helped some relatives financially by sending them to college. I feel good that I see the fruit of my labor. These people are able to help others too. That's the cycle of life, Giving and Receiving.
