We have all experienced this before. You get busy and/or stressed and just do not fit fitness into your life anymore. I have found that a quick kick in the butt is all it takes. It seems a lot harder than it actually is. I went several months this winter without going to the gym once and one day I just thought "this is ridiculous!" I quickly threw on my gym clothes before I had time to change my mind and ran off to the gym. Once I was there and was able to push myself to get a good workout, I found it easier to go the next day, and the next. I think the hardest time are those first few days when you really need to push yourself, but once you get into a routine, and begin to enjoy it,  you forget that you are pushing yourself at all! I know it seems silly, but it's true! Once you start going to the gym, you will find yourself wanting to eat healthier so that your workouts are not "wasted". I make it sound very simple, but once you get started you will see how easy it can be. Of course you will need to start out taking it easy, but before you know it you will WANT to go to the gym as often as possible! Good luck. :)
