Wow.  I never heard that before... once you get one "there's no turning back!"  It's a different vaccine every year, so I highly doubt that it carries over year after year. That said,   I have never gotten the flu in a year that I got the flu vaccine.  I did get the flu one year when I didn't get the vaccine -- and it was a whopper. The vaccine protects against the actual flu -- that illness that last around 5 days with a very high fever, not against the various strains of colds and viruses that also circulate in winter and can make you draggy.   Also, you might feel draggy and flu-ish for the day after you get the vaccine.
