People are basically afraid of the unknown .. Thats my opinion. Looking back at the history of the human kind this phenomena has been there for years. People choose to interpret reality and the bible in a way that seems more convenient to them.
The search for people who can answer your question continues for as long as needed - until you find the answer you were looking for.
