Gas pump misery

From what I've read in old forums, this problem happens alot with the Ford Mustang.  I don't know if you have one, but here is the blog and some solutions from other folk whom experienced the same or similar problem you are experiencing:

The problem you're describing happens due to the air which is trapped inside the gas tank of your car. Most probably the ventilation tubes are blocked. try to put the gas pump gun on the first stop so it will pump slower.

Also make sure the nozzle is all the way in, start slowly and as it starts going, then you can increase the flow.

The problem lies with the ventilation system ( for vapor recovery) for the gas tank. Essentially the gas tank cannot breath which is causing the gas to back up into the gas tank filler neck. The gas pump is doing what it is "supposed" to do and shuts off when it senses that. This normally only backs up into the filler neck when it get near full. However due to the ventialtion problem, it is backing up much sooner. EX: You may really need 12 gallons to fill the tank, but the pump is kicking off at 1 gallon.  Suggest going to the dealer for such a repair.

The answer is in a venting valve for the gas tank that is not opening. Either it has a bad electrical contact or its finished. Look in the wheel well under the gas reservoir fill door. You have to take off the tire, and then take off the plastic shield inside the wheel well. Then I disconnected the rubber hose to the valve and tied a cotton cloth to act as a filter, to keep the dirt out. So now the air can escape when filling up.

This valve might be a anti roll over valve, but I don`t plan to roll over with my car.

Now I fill up the tank like its suppose to.
