Is the Garmin Nuvi 4.3 Wide Screen Portable GPS Navigator better than the previous model? I am a truck driver and I am looking to purchase a Garmin Nuvi 4.3 portable GPS in the near future.

There are considerable web sites you can check and compare the various Garmin units. I was just on www.bizrate.com/global-positioning-systems-gps/garmin which is pretty extensive. All GPS units do the same thing, triangulate a fix of your position from 3 of 24 satellites. The difference comes in the bells and whistles. Do you want way points, do you want updated road info like on the Ford Taurus. Keep one thing in mind as you make your choice. As I said they all do they same thing from the same 24 satellites. The first 18 of the birds were launched before 1980. the rest were in place by around 1990. These birds are getting old and are going to start malfunctioning. Which means the Air Force is going to need to launch new birds in the very near future or your accuracy is going to decrease or you will get holes in your coverage. You might want to check on what the Air Force is doing about the birds. As maybe you can tell, me expertise is from the military, Navy, in the beginning of GPS and watching the system grow and replace the Satellite Navigation system. Read the comparisons from me or the other answers and find a unit that does what you want.
