when I use my garbage disposal, water and ground up food come up through my connected sink. Everything is connected as explained in your directions. Thanks Doug
With out more info I would say that your drain is not drain at 100%. If this is correct, water draining would back up also. You would need either use something like Drano or run a snake through it.

could be the continuas waste tee under the sink may not have a baffle directing the flow of waste water down instead of a splash back, only if it has always done this,

My garbage disposal does this sometimes too. Generally its because a residue of food has built up in the trap (u shape pipe) below the disposal. I run lots of very hot water through the pipes for 2-3 mins to get any grease out and run the disposal at the same time. Your dish washer can put food stuff in your pipes also. I am on a septic system so I never use draino or other chemicals...Hope that helps.
