MY inferiority complex isn't as good as YOURS

Future nurse needs GED

I dropped out of high school to get a job when I was 14.I was supposed to home-school but found I didn't have time, and when I did school was the last thing on my mind.Plus,I'm not religious and my mom picked out Christian based curriculum so it was really boring to me.Anyway,I'm 20 now and decided to go to nursing school.I need to get my G.E.D and need a good study guide.I'm great with English and Reading...Math is very difficult.I have not been in school in almost 6 years so the simplest Math problems are hard for me.What is the best GED study guide and maybe some math skills material as well? Thanks!

A foolish heart will call on you to toss your dreams away, then turn around and blame you for the way you went astray. - Grateful Dead, Foolish Heart

I would go to your local book store and pick up this

book.  Then, I would suggest that you start looking at it, to see what you find difficult.  If you know you're going to need help with math, I would either sign up for a class, or hire a tutor to help you a couple times a week.  If you can have someone start to teach you the basics again, I think the math should come back to you.  If you get this help for a few months, I think you should be fine and able to get your GED.  Usually, if you really follow through with doing what the book suggests, you do very well on these tests.  Good luck.

I agree that there are useful books avaialble, just as suggested below. In addition, if you live near the right facility, you can get GED coaching for free. That is true in my town. We have the Lafayette Adult Resource Academy in Lafayette, IN. Do some checking on Google or at your library for cneters for literacy. Also, Indiana vocational Technical College (Ivy Tech) is a good place to begin nurse's training and they might have some coaching avaialble. Write me At a.garfinkel@insightbb.com if you want me to do some research for you.

Check out your local adult education center. Every community has one. You'll be surprised by the amount of people who are just like you--- starting over and/or returning. This will also give you a great support system that you wouldn't get from just sitting at home alone. Check out this site for more information on your educational goals and good luck.
