Furniture matching through out house?

Most of my house is in warm neutral oak... floors, trim, and most furniture...some antiquees.. bedrooms are carpeted...we're getting a new bed for the master, and my first thought was to get a dark cherry, because I'm just tired of the oak..but now, I'm concerned that it won';t match the other bedroom furniture as well as house in general. It is a pedestal sleigh bed, with drawers stacked beneath..with feminine legs..almost Queen Anne... I have lingerie chest and armoire in oak in our bedroom..so worried that cherry won't work, and must change to oak..What do you think Kellly?

Hi Kelly, you better either buy a bed to match or plan on restaining the other furniture in the room to match. It is some work, but it is worth it for a fresh feel. All you need is a little sand paper, not to rough, not to smooth, a cloth to wipe off dust and stain to match. brush stain on lightly and let dry, don't wipe off unless you strip the wood which is really a pain and a mess. It will take a while to dry completely at least a full day but then your done!

I do not think it is mandatory to match the furnitures of all the rooms with each other. You can always get a little bit of variations in different rooms in an interesting way.
