Furious

I have been led to believe that members of congress (US) do not pay for their auto, auto insurance, or $4.55 a gal for gas. Is this true, partly true or false? Thanks, Doug

Wink  Headphones: you can listen to music you like or keep other noise out.

Now that you mention it, I think they drive vehicles owned by the government and thus the rest would go along with it. I have heard of things like this in the past as well as other types of (private type businesses). I am no authority on this and do not know the correct answer but you put a bug in my bonnet and I hope to see more of these answers you get on this.

Live simply, love generously and  care deeply.

I have a feeling that these members of Congress have everything paid for them including gas and government cars.  No wonder that they don't care if the gas prices will keep going up.  They are against drilling for oil in our own country because it's the Republican's ideas.  They are always blocking ideas, even good ideas just because it's from the opposition party.  The ones that suffer are the poor working people, and the middle income working people, not them.

That's why I don't really care about being a Democrat.

Those are my thoughts. I welcome yours.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

Calm down kids.

They still pay for gas & insurance for their personal vehicles that their wives and kids may drive.

They are exempt from wage an hour laws for their staffs.

They do get discounted haircuts.

They do get discounts in the congressional dining room...which, by the way is being privatized because it was losing money. They can't run their own dining room and yet they expect us to believe they can run health care.

They don't pay postage for their office mail.

They serve 2 terms & they get a lifetime pension (that defaults to the spouse upon their death)

Their health care insurance and retirement are both...are you ready for this word again....privatized and funded in the EXACT SAME MANNER THAT BUSH WANTED TO FUND SOCIAL SECURITY!!!!! Think about that, sports fans. It was too risky and complicated for we, the people. Yet, they get it for themselves.

Let's face it...being an elected representative in DC is not a bad gig at all.
