Frozen embryo transfer

Hi, thought I'd take a chance to see if anyone could give some advice...I recently did an IVF cycle- ended in a miscarriage- we did further testing and found out I may have a clotting issue- so the doctor wants to do a frozen embryo cycle and if the results are postive - have me go on heprin...my question is we have 4 frozen embryos- should all survive the thawing process...should we transfer 2 or 3?

Fertility Stories - infertility experiences of people like you.

You'll only know how many embryos have survived the thaw once they are thawed. The way they check is that they see whether the number of cells is the same as when they froze the embryo.

If you have them frozen in 2 separate straws, you may want to thaw only 2 and then if they both survive, to transfer both. Once you've thawed all 4, it will be a harder decision - especially if they all survive the thaw.

If you're under 35, transferring 2 is recommended - at over 35, 3 can produce higher pregnancy rates.

Good luck!

Hi,

Rachel Inbar basically covered it all. You may not have this dilemma but if you do I would follow my doctor's recommendation since it's probably based on experience. Remember, There's always a chance it won't work but the odds are with you in this case.

Good luck.
