Freezer Needs Frequent Defrosting

Why does my fridge need to be defrosted more and more frequently? (It's obviously not a self-defrosting freezer). What can I do?

Ambient air is probably entering the refrigerator through some tear or opening in the gasket of the fridge door or the fridge door does not close properly.
