Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, if what you are saying is that no one religion has the right to rule over all the others and that our government doesn't have the right to force one upon us, then we agree. Also, if you are saying that we should have the right to express our religion rather than being banned from it, then we also agree on that, too.

Be Blessed.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Hi Mondabi, I guess my answer may sound a little weird but here goes. It wouldn't matter whether we had the 1st amendment or not, I would worship my God. He has been too good to me for someone to band me from giving him the praise, glory and honor he deserves. The only way to stop me is to take me out. As I think about it, that wouldn't stop me either, because I would still be praising him in heaven. So amendments don't mean a thing to me. Be Blessed

Tippy - I get your answer and of course, I feel the same way. However, I don't want to move to a time where people must be afraid of sharing their faith in public. So, for the good of all, I hope that we never lose site of this amendment and what it means. Good answer, though and true! Thanks, Tippy!

"Whatever it Takes"

Freedom of religion is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or community, in public or private, to manifest religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship, and observance. The concept is generally recognized to also include the freedom to change religion or not to follow any religion. Freedom of religion is considered by many in many nations and people to be a fundamental human right.

One can search every facet of the Universe, but unless one carries that which one is searching for with them, they find it not.

Prayer is free, worship is free, and humanity as spirit is free, this has been given to everyone by our Creator. Accept this freedom regardless of surroundings, governments or what man made laws try and tell you. They may tell you not to pray or worship while in school or somewhere else, but how can they stop you? I AM Spirit and if you want to pray, or worship then go into that secret place in mind where freedom just is. Religions are fragmented, and are not free; people die for them and keep themselves in bondage to them. Even among the same religion, people are split. This leaves the impression that perhaps freedom of religion out of its many separations should be subdued. All should understand that perhaps Moon worshipers don’t want Sun worshippers in their schools. Some don’t want people to worship what they don’t understand, and that’s because they don’t understand. Freedom of religion is understated and limited. Freedom to worship or not worship is a necessity. Lord, allow us to get past religion and recognize your is-ness and accept our at-one-ment.

Poor is an attitude, Broke is a temporary situation.....UNLESS THIS MORON TAKES THE REST OF OUR HARD EARNED MONEY.  There is no such thing as freedom of choice, babies NEVER choose to die.

OK...here is the deal. On Wednesday, Ken Freeman, a youth minister came to the schools in Meridian, MS. He spoke in the public schools as well as the private schools. GUESS WHAT??? He couldn't even mention the name of Jesus in the public schools. It says FREEDOM OF RELIGION....not freedom from religion. Here is just one instance below. After being called a "fascist" by his professor, a Christian California student has filed suit against his college for violations of his free-speech rights. Less than a month after voters in California decided to amend their state constitution and protect traditional marriage, Jonathan Lopez -- in a public speaking class -- shared his beliefs on faith and marriage. David French of the Alliance Defense Fund picks up the story. "Jonathan talked about his faith -- and one of the things he talked about in context of his faith was...marriage," says French. "He read from the dictionary definition of marriage. The professor stopped the class, called him a 'fascist b_____d' -- [he] used the expletive -- [and] told the class that anyone who wanted to could leave if they were offended...." According to an ADF press release, when no one got up to leave, the instructor simply dismissed the class, effectively ending Lopez's speech -- which violated the student's free-speech rights, adds the attorney, especially since other students made speeches on other subjects. Religious speech, notes French, apparently was excluded from the open-ended speech assignment. "You just cannot shut down student speech like that," states French, who explains that Lopez was well within the confines of his professor's assignment, and that the professor's actions not only constitute viewpoint discrimination but also comprise "retaliation" because he disagreed with Lopez's religious beliefs. According to the ADF attorney, the professor was not yet finished. "When [Lopez later] complained about what was an obvious act of censorship, he was threatened with expulsion by that same professor," he says. The speech professor is identified as John Matteson of Los Angeles Community College. ADF reports that after Proposition 8 (the marriage-related constitutional amendment) was approved on November 4, Matteson told his entire class: "If you voted yes on Proposition 8, you are a fascist b_____d." Ultimately Matteson refused to grade Lopez's November 24 speech, and wrote on the evaluation: "Ask God what your grade is."

Kathy - And yet another example of how we are being trampled.  Why is it that freedom of religion and free speech are all inclusive EXCEPT in the case of Christianity?  Seriously - even Muslims are protected.  Heck, atheists can say whatever they want, too.  It's completely discriminatory toward Christians.  The problem lies within the court system that is currently monopolized by liberal judges.  Ordinarily, one's personal views don't matter in such a situation.  However, the judges have recently taken it upon themselves to re-write laws rather than uphold them.  It's disgusting.  Even respected news persons (such as the independent, Bill O'Reilly) have noted the extreme bias.  Judges are going far outside their intended reach, yet, we are helpless to stop them.  Our country is being overrun by the 60's hippies that thought the law was bad.  Could we hurry up and get the 80's generations in charge already?  Sheesh!  We need conservatives to balance out this madness before we lose all of our rights!
