In order to save money, would you use a free online version of a program like Photoshop? Or would you pay for the full version?
I would use neither and use GIMP, which is free, and portable and not web based.
Definitely use the free version unless the free version didn't have a feature that I HAD to have no matter what, only then would I buy.
There's NO equivalent of 'online Photoshop'. What I'd recommend is you get something like Photoimpact from Ulead (now owned by Corel) and it'll give you a wealth of graphic design & effects for a fraction of what Photoshop costs.

No day in which you learn something is a complete loss.
I'd also rather use a free online version if it could give me what I need in the way I'm used to receiving it.
