Free divorce record search?

Is it possible to perform a free divorce record search , online that is?

Do you know of a government website that has public information
so that one can perform a free divorce record search online?

Thanks very much!

Add: Just to give some feedback - thanks Abacus, I used the records provider you suggested and was very happy with the service and report. Ta.

You may be able to perform a free divorce record search online
but to be blunt (it will save you time, money and lots of hassles knowing this) many prefer to use the private paid option rather than try to find a free governmental search because:

1) Chances of getting complete and accurate information from governmental searches is not good.

2) Many governmental departments charge a fee anyway - not for the search but for the admin costs. So it still doesn't end up being a free divorce record search anyway.

3) You are limited to one state. Governmental departments limit their information
to their own respective states. Quite understandably.

4) Private companies spend a lot of time and effort collecting information from governmental sources throughout the country. Their reputation and livelihood depends on the accuracy of the reports they supply.

5) You can search through other records as well: Property reports, arrest reports, court reports etc.

6) Paid searches through private websites are a whole lot quicker, convenient and certainly more accurate.

You can try marriage divorce record search , they have one of the biggest online databases and from past experience their reports are usually accurate, complete and quick!

All the best and I hope that helped a little with the free divorce record search.

Yes, Abacus is correct, it's not going to be easy getting the information /getting accurate information doing a free divorce record search.

Besides, the information is too important to risk not knowing for sure.

All the best.

Hi Joy, There are many more free public records web site out there then people realize, most all are government operated, either federal or state. Some states provide free public records information about marriages, divorce, home values, death and tax records. The real key is knowing where to go and of course having all the required information required in order to locate the information you're looking for. Information possibly such as their first name, middle name and last name, address, city, state and in some cases their SSN. I recommend you check your specific state to see what public records they have available to you for free, you can do this easily at: http://www.peopleferret.com/free-public-records.htm Wishing you the best in your research! How do you find marriage and divorce records before 1950?

My father was married for a short time before he married my mother, and my half sister has never known when he and her mother were married, or divorced. They married in Texas. I'd like to help her find this info.

Depends where the divorce occurred. Most states have an online vital records site. Some states give access to info about when the divorce was filed, but not the actual date of the final divorce decree. I had a similar problem with researching my parents divorce. I wrote to the registry of records ( It cost me $10 to $15) It might be faster through a pay website.
