Marie Anne Adelaide Lenormand was born on 27 May 1772 in Alencon, France.  At the age of 21 she left for Paris and there she learned how to read the cards.  Together with a Madame Gilbert she she started a parlor, where they did the card-reading.  She became very popular and famous at her time and read the cards for: Napoleon, Josephine de Beauharnais, Louis 18th Robespierre, Alexander the Russian emperor and many more.
