Formica cabinet nightmare!!!!

I watched the updating cabinets tip and loved it, but what if you have formica covered cabinets?  The home we bought has formica cabinets in the kitchen as well as the bathrooms and the previous owners chose to paint the formica in one the bathrooms, and it turned out horrible, so I do not want to paint them. Any cost effective/quick fix suggestions?

Home improvement projects, "Get'er done."

If you are referring to painting Formica, you can. I have done this several times with great success. Very important, you must either sand the surface very well with a semi-fine sand paper, (very time consuming) or use liquid sand according to the directions, or you can use a de-glosser. I’ve done them all. Prime with a good quality primer and then you can paint it. Another option is to paint the body and trim of the cabinets and replace the doors.
