Thankyou for this info...I had furniture once that I know was so saturated in formaldehyde I got terrible headaches from it....But this was before all the scare from it and I could not do anything about anyways since we has no money to replace it we were young and had very little disposable cash.THis was in the early 70's....But as far as I know the government was not doing anything about it then...

We almost bought a manufactured home at the time ..a new one but my big italian nose and my allergies combined to sniff out the fact that the home was FULL of chemicals and my head was SPLITTING by the time I left the place...I myself do not know how people ever lived in some of these homes including as you say the new homes...I am currently in the markert here in Florida for an old fashion frame house from the 1920's because even though they are not energy efficient I have terrible asthma and they BREATH!!! SO I can breath too!!! My sister is also in the line of work you are in and used to get mad when I would tell her about how the hospitals I worked in( I am a nurse) would use such high concentrations if ammonia to strip the floors of wax I would have an asthma attack and a headache and several doctors got rashes but nothing was ever done except fans a couple of time!!  thanks for listening
