My buddy did this on his Ranger and it worked fine and its free. cheezy but free! Remove the rear axle and mount it under the leaf springs instead of on top. this will give you 4in in the rear. For the front he simply used a 4in long piece of treated 4x4 lumber, painted black and placed it under the spring. this is a maximum height you can go without lengthing the drive shaft and dropping the steering pitman arm.He eventually welded a  steel box togather and tac welded it in place of the chunk of wood.

The lowest servant in Heaven is still in Heaven.

Whoever rules in hell is still in hell, but they won't rule for long.

I hate to tell you this, but putting your Ford Ranger on stilts will not improve its ground clearance: the differential will still be the low point on the truck and that is where you get high-centered 99 times out of 99.

To the contrary, by raising the truck on blocks, you only raise the center of gravity which can send you rolling down a hill whenever you hit a lateral grade your truck once could handle.

The best advice is to keep it stock, maintain it professionally, and never compromise safety or reliability.

This homemade lift is on a strictly off road vehical. He has not rolled over yet. The differential is always the lowest point .. The whole idea behind a lift is to allow the vehical to accomodate taller ,wider tires so you can get the diffs off the ground .(wider's better) Therefore makeing it as stable as it was. Besides, only hillbillys lift them up without following thru with a large set of kickers.    Tisko5
