wel...i think that flipflops is simply the singular of flipflops as in you have one flipflop but 2 or more flipflops so if you have a pair then you own flipflops if you have lost olne and only have one then its is flipflop....i hope you understand because if not then you need to read this again and again until you do as this is very important part of the english language!!!!
