first you should bring your cat to a groomer and if it has long hair, for the cats well being, shave the cat down. after it is shaved if it has long hair or if it has short hair you then want the cat to be shampooed for fleas and then dipped for fleas. the reason for shaving a long hair flea infested cat is that it is 100% easier to get rid of the flea infestation(i used to groom animals for a living so i know from experience how to deal with this problem). while your cat is at the groomer you must set off bug bombs in your home when you leave to go to the groomers. most bug bombs require n area being treated to be closed for a minimum of 2hours. when it is time to re enter the home i strongly suggest spraying with a flea spray any areas the cat frequents. also you must spray your yard and exterior perimeter of your home as well as spray the entire interior of your vehicle used to transport the cat to the groomer. all this treatment for fleas must be completed before picking the cat up from the groomers also i suggest that you treat the cat with a transdermal flea treatment that is placed along the spine starting between the shoulder blades and working your way down the spine. you can get these transdermal treatments from pretty much any vet clinic, petco, petsmart, 1 800 petmeds, or even from the internet. i know it sounds like alot of work but once you get a handle on the problem it will be worth the effort. after you get a handle on the problem, its good to go over your cats body looking for fleas by running your fingers against the way the fur naturally lays and that way you can spot any fleas making an apperance. this is also pleasurable for the cat and is a bonding experience for the 2 of you. i hope i have given you some helpful ideas. if you lived in hawaii i could help you personally. let me know how everything turns out. oh by the way from experience we have found that the adams brand of flea and tick products are the best. they have shampoo, dip, yard and kennel spray, bug bombs, flea spray and flea p
