Flash to be open source

Hello, I've heard that Adobe has or will release flash to the open source community. I have little knowledge as to what could the consecuences of this release. Could anyone explain me a little more about this, is there gonna be an open source program to create, is it gonna look like adobe's program.

The source code for the virtual machine in Adobe Flash Player is being contributed to the Mozilla Foundation.  The open source project is called Tamarin.  According to the chief technology officer of the Mozilla Corporation, "Now web developers have a high-performance, open source virtual machine for building and deploying interactive applications across both Adobe Flash Player and the Firefox web browser."  (This information comes from Adobe and Mozilla's
