as an ichtheoligist, a fish farmer and a total 'fish head' the answer is a fishing guide to teach rich men to fly fish in beautiful streams.  much money and your the boss.  camping in the wilderness, fresh air and wild places.  learn to fly fish, tie flies and become an apprentice for a great lodge.  be happy, from sparklesquid

Check with your state's fish and game department. Also, a fishing guide on a large lake or ocean might be a good choice. I hope this helps you to direct your son in the right direction for a career involving fishing. I am an avid fisherwoman myself and although I am 74 I still fish and I have been doing it since I was six. Good luck to you and your son.

Sarah, thank you! I will definately follow the suggestions of both you and sparklesquid. I do believe it always best to try to "work" doing what you love whenever possible. My son would love you, he loves anyone who fishes. He took his 6th grade teacher on her first fishing outing ever last month. She was so happy to catch her first fish....Bless you ,

If he is that good of an "angler" (fisherman), have him check out this site. There are many great opportunities for anyone that has the ability and the drive. He would have to be better than me though, fish beg, for me to catch them!......Laughing

You're the boss, you tell me how to do it.

I've been a fishing fanatic since I was no older than three or four. I've worked offshore charter boats, drift boats, small and large lake fishing and river fly fishing.

I've always loved the woods and the water but I've got to tell you that love of fishing is only a small part of making a living as a guide. In addition to your know how of fishing you must be a politician, have unending paitence, eyes in the back of your head to make sure no one gets hurt or even killed. You're going to deal with people who have never been closer to water than their shower, others that close out the bar in preperation for their trip then spend the day puking which you get to clean. You'll baby sit 5 year olds that have no buisness be in on the trip enforce fish and game laws with people that think creel limits don't apply to them, I even had some one pull a gun once because "I paid for you to drive the boat so shutup and do as you're told".

How does all this sound so far? Another thing most states don't allow the guides to fish when they're with paying customers.

If it was my child I'd steer them in the direction of establishing a service aranging charters and fishing vacations for people. Then let the outfitters comp. as many trips as you can to try out their services.
