Finding 70 year old mother rental resources so that she may continue to live in her apartment.

I would like to know what rental assistance programs that are available to seniors in the Chesapeake area of Virginia.

I know here in Georgia they have churches that are affilated with apartment that are for the senior citizens. Some of the hospitals also have apartments that are sponsored by them. Check these out, but your best bet would be to ask her health care provider, they usually know lots of places and they are not that expensive. I think they have some that is based on income so they usually have a waiting list. I have known several that were in their own apartments and there was also a nurse in residense in case they were needed. Friendly bunch too. Hope this helps.

Find out if they have a Catholic Family Services office in her area. They can either help a little or they can point her toward resources that might be able to help her. United Way should also have a list of agencies that might be able to help. She also needs to apply for HUD housing in her area, though this is not a quick solution. There's usually a rather long waiting list for HUD. But it's worth it for the future.

I recently went to a new doctor and noticed he was located in something called the Professional Building. I felt better right away.

Its never too late to ask.

Contact the Chesapeake Housing Authority thru their website, once there you can fill out an application as well as view all the pertinent information you'll need to know order for her to qualify.

You might also want to type in Rental Assistance for Chesapeake, Va in your search engine and Senior Housing. both of those should net you more than you hope to find.   Good luck.
