Fighting street violence

I witness a lot of violence on the streets, roads and at night clubs. How can society fight this? [Israel, Tel Aviv]

It's not so simple as it may seem. But several things could be done, even keeping public force as the last resort.

A violent society is essentially a frustrated society, who has nothing to offer to young people aside from booze, lots of free time slowly turning in a void and no human contact. And when someone is troubled, angered and frustrated, he gets violent. So, encouraging youth centers, city-sponsored clubs open to everyone who wants simply to do something in his/her spare times, sports clubs and even hobbystical associations, free to charge or with some tax refund to make them easier to set on with less expences would be great.

Then, cutting off supplies. Occasional violence is the fruit of frustration, organized violence is the fruit of people who set some serious business on exploitation of anger.

Hi,

I think the important point is that there are different manifestations of violence in society. I believe that everything starts from education and that is the long term solution. Will that help right now? absolutely not but investing time in anti violence programs for teenagers and raising awareness towards these issues is a key move in fighting violence.

I don't really believe there are easy solutions for complicated problems and violence is definitely that kind of problem. In the short term qzmaster591's idea sounds good. I would also try to enforce higher security standards in clubs. I don't mean that police need to be present at all times but a serious search for weapons and dangerous objects can certainly be conducted.

But as I said in the beginning EDUCATION, EDUCATION, EDUCATION!!!

All the Best.
