Hi,
No petroleum-based rubs for me...Isn't that something auto mechanics use to grease cars?...Did a study on that subject once and discovered that it is not compatible with the human body in any way...but can actually be toxic.
Anyway, here is what I do when I feel a cold coming on:
(1) Take a warm bath.
(2) Rub an essential oil blend called, "R.C." on my chest and back and diffuse it into the air...Ahhh, now I can breathe.
(3) Get out my "Thieves" essential oil blend and apply to my feet...and drop 1 drop into a mug of warm water for tea.
(4) For a cough, headache, and congestion I always carry "Thieves" hard lozenges. If I happen to be in the vacinity of someone's sneeze, I take a lozenge right away because the essential oils in it help fight bacteria and support the immune system.
(5) Then I alternate ImmuneTune and Inner Defense which also contain very effective herbs and oils and check to be sure that I am taking my vitamins and minerals.
(6) Then I get some extra ZZZZs, drink plenty of purified water...at times with lemon juice to help balance my pH, and yes, I eat lots of chicken soup! Yummmm.

Be well!
