How can we determine, who is the fastest man on earth? Is it the best sprinter? the best marathon runner? and who holds the records of those two? Can you think of another way to detemine who is the fastest?

5 thumbs up

I guess fast in a matter of interpretation.  I think your 2 examples, of a marathon  and sprint runner are good. One is measure short distance speed and the other endurance. The fastest sprint runner is Donovan Bailey who ran 100 meter in 9.84 seconds in the Atlanta Olympics. The fastest marathon runner (42 kilometers) is Haile Gebrselassie that st the record in 2003- 2:04:55.
