The UK banned
fast food commercials targeting kids younger than 16. Do you think this will have an effect on fast food consumption? Any chance a similar ban will take effect in the States?

Truthfully, I don't think that bans like this will many any difference at all. Kids have already been to McDonalds and Burger King and they know that they love it. Also, adults want to go to these places as well, so they will take their kids. Older siblings will understand the ads and still want to go, and therefore the younger siblings will follow and be taken there. It's just the way of our society now. People have to make a conscious decision whether they want to be careful with how much fast food they eat. I think that many people are conscious about this and watch what they eat.
This academic file shows some interesting statistics , more and more kids today are overweight, more and more food is consumed out side homes. I guess the kids are the ones we can still try and save , if I think it's efficient to be honest in the Internet era I doubt it they can hust turn to them online.

This campaign might do some good but I believe in the responsibility being the consumer's rather then the seller's. Banning commercials won't solve the problem in the long run for people who want to eat junk food will find a way to do it, with or without commercials.
I don't think this will happen in the US thanks to the great power the large corporations have. They realize such a move will cost them money.
Banning the commercials will not stop children from getting what they want. You can't follow them around 24/7. Just take them to the Doc to get a complete cholesterol profile. Then the truth will come out. I hope the Doc has smelling salts on hand------ for their parents.
I definetly belive this will affect the amount of food fast food chains sell to kids. The point of commercials are to inform a possible consumer on what they may want or even need. Commercials targeting kids and children make children want to consume the product that is being glamourized. And will over all make children want to get the product being sold. Of course children who are so impresionable will be affected by commercials targeting them and they will want to get the products that are used to target them.
yep i think it will surely affect fasd food consumption as chinldren are facinated to eat fast food thru such ads onli
