Family reunion in Thessaloniki

Next summer my mother's family is having a big family reunion in Thessaloniki, Greece. My parents intend to go, but I have doubts. I guess it would be nice to meet my mother's family, but what about the city itself? Is it an interesting place?

I have been to Thessaloniki many times and I love it ! it is a festivity of old culture and modern living in Greece second major economic, industrial, commercial and cultural center.

It has many monuments of Byzantine architecture as well as for some main Ottoman, and Jewish structures.There is nothing like sitting in the beautiful restaurants and tavernas in which they serve amazing simple and tasty food , speaking of which you must try the bougatsa ( a traditional delicacy which is made out of a crusty phyllo dough and a number of different fillings )it is very cheap and served anywhere. Thessaloniki nightlife, is pretty cool, it ranges from old rebetadika to fancy modern bars and nightclubs.
