Contact an attorney to see what kind of legal papers can be filed so the family trust can be turned over to another family member. You can find a family attorney at American Acacdemy of Matrimonial Lawyers

First it depends on why the person has been missing for 7 years.  Do you know if the person is deceased, in a foreign country, etc.?  You will want to hire a financial attorney to research your legal rights to claim the trust.  There is a statue of limitations.  This will be based on the State in which you are residing in or the trust is vindicated in.  Has a missing persons report been filed on this missing person?  Remember there is a difference between a "missing person" and a person who is not around and is not aware that there is a trust that he/she has a claim too.  I would be careful in your actions and follow the laws of the court.  Good Luck.

There is not enough information to answer this.  For one thing, is the grantor of the trust still alive?

You need an attorney for this. Is the person deceased or just not in contact with the family? What were the circumstances involved with the disappearance?  Is the missing person elderly or a minor? Is the person who set up the trust fund still in the picture? It all matters in these kids of cases.
