How does the father of a child obtain the child's social security number if he is serving in the army.

It depends for what purposes, but you might have to just write him a letter or wait till he can call for you to ask him.  Social security numbers are kept very secret these days because of the recent growth of identity theft.  Even if it's your son, it might be difficult to find out, unless you can find his social security card in the house or something.

Check with his highschool or college and get his documents,medical record, credit report.  Write or call the RED CROSS.  They can contact him and he'll be able to contact you.
