"What does it profit a man to gain the world if he loses his soul?"

I favor reason over faith.  Trust is good if you know what you're trusting, so reason or accurately perceiving reality is more important because it shows you what can be trusted.

i have to go with reason and logic.  Faith, in some instances, can be a result of reason and logic.  As an example, because of reason and logic we can have faith that the roof over our head will keep out rain.  We can also have faith that if we fly in an airplane we will safely arrive at our destination.  That is a faith backed by reason and logic based upon statistics.

Thank you Profitbob and Ethmer for your answers. A very illustrative example Ethmer.I also see in your example that faith was also first than reason, in the first flies.I am not saying that reason then was nule, but less.People had less knowledge, reason, logic but they got more because of their hope, trust.

Many believe that Faith in YHWH or believing in Yahshua, the Messiah exclude wisdom, reason or knowledge, but I do not think this is true.

1 Corinthians 1:19-30

19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not YHVH made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21For after that in the wisdom of YHVH the world by wisdom knew not YHVH, it pleased YHVH by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23But we preach Messiah crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
24But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Messiah the power of YHVH, and the wisdom of YHVH.
25Because the foolishness of YHVH is wiser than men; and the weakness of YHVH is stronger than men.
26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27But YHVH hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and YHVH hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath YHVH chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29That no flesh should glory in his presence.
30But of him are ye in Messiah Yahshua, who of YHVH is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:31That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 2:1-16

1And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of YHVH.
2For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Messiah Y'Shua, and him crucified.
3And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of YHVH.
6Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
7But we speak the wisdom of YHVH in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which YHVH ordained before the world unto our glory:
8Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which YHVH hath prepared for them that love him.
10But YHVH hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of YHVH.
11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of YHVH knoweth no man, but the Spirit of YHVH.
12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of YHVH; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of YHVH.
13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of YHVH: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Messiah.

 Blessings to you all,

YahismySavior

"But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, 'You are my God! My future is in your hands.'" Ps. 31:14-15

Well what is "reason" may not always be reason. What makes sense to someone is a matter of oppinion. If you mean the type of reason to dimiss the thought of God because it doesnt sound "reasonable" then i would say Faith is much more important. Our society lives in a world that says "Well i wont believe it until you can prove it to me"..like a seeing is believing type of deal. But i believe believing is seeing because if you go "Ok God show me a sign you are real" He will sometimes but other times he wont because if he did that with everyone, they would HAVE to believe in him, he wants us to come to him on our own then his works will be revealed more abundantly.

I agree with you in that to see(gain knowledge) sometimes you have to believe first, approach to YHVH with trust and without foreknowledge or reason.

James 1:4-84But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of YHVH, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
