Faith or no faith in the media today?

How much faith do you have in the honesty of the media (tv, radio, newspapers, magazines)?  Personally, I have had a horrific experience with them.

I have no faith in the media.  They do not convey the truth about what is really happening in the news. To get the real story you should listen to the radio.

The mainstream media outlets have become corrupted centers of dissemination of propaganda and disinformation. The bias and editorialized spins in which 24 hour mega news networks spin their offerings is so insulting to the intelligence it has been years since I have watched a network news report. Reuters owns the Associated Press and Reuters is owned by the world’s wealthiest individual. 80% of all news reported on the Networks and in Newspapers originates from Reuters or the Associated Press. There is no such thing as integrity in journalism. Lord Rothschild absolutely has no integrity. How could the news he peddles?

I agree with Sean Hannity, "Journalisn in America is dead." If we want the truth today we have to sift it out for ourselves by reading many news publications and listening to all different radio and t.v. There was a time when news was reported and not editorialized. Opinions were not part of it. Just the facts were spoken. Today there are to many opinions, and no enough reporting of just the facts, for us to decide. I am a conservative and watch mostly Fox News. I have tuned into MSNBC and some of the others and they are so bias it's not funny. I think I have a very open mind and can listen to both sides but I can't listen to trash and bash. I listen to Dems and GOP and agree and disagree with both. I watched Rachael Maddow a few times and I thought I was in a third world country being fed propaganda. I like O'reily and Hannity, although I think Hannity is to far to the right. Oreily seems to be more down the middle.

Example, I asked my 87 year old mother-in-law why she voted for Obama and she answered, because the nightly new says he is the best. She comes from the Walter Cronkite era when journalism was alive and the real stories were told, so she trusts the media and votes accordingly.

Miss you on the other threads Monkey.........Have a good day...George~

When it comes to media I believe that in all instantances they will give one story more attention than others just because it gets more veiws and sells more papers. I beleive they chose and select what they want you to hear especially with politics and the war. I beleive they are manipulators of the people. I am thankful for the internet because on here eventually the true story will come out.

Love with all my heart, forgive easily & quickly, peace whenever possible, hold tightly onto today, let go of yesterday, embrace each moment, & be a soild ground for my family to fall back on whenever it is needed. And always, always, I am ready to stop the world & listen.

Monkeyface, I don't know what my thoughts on this subject matter but for the record, I'll bite! I had NO faith in the media, NONE. Even Christian media I weigh carefully with prayer, wisdom, discernment, & some research, not always. It's not that I don't trust Christian media, it's that I know that any man/woman isn't above making mistakes or leaning toward their own opinion sometimes rather than sticking to the facts. I live in Texas, "Texas Monthly" is supposed to a very respected, reputable magazine. It just so happens in a few years ago I read 4 different articles at different times that I knew for a FACT were NOT true as they involved family & family friends. During that time I also learned how Texas Monthly's reporters came up with their blatant lies. I haven't read one of those periodicals since & never will again, now I'm very careful as to what I do listen to, watch, & read. I also know of Christian programs that got my family's story somewhat incorrect, I didn't much care for that but all in all I do trust that particular program. My faith totally lies in the truth, Jesus is the way, truth, & life, He said if any man desires wisdom to ask for it, I rely on Godly wisdom as much as I can as I too am not perfect.

Don't judge me lest you truly know me.

Well, in my opinion, there has always been a reason they say, "Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see." I have dealt more than once with the media. Not once did they get their facts correct, they even edited my televised interview to where some of my sentences were cut off to make it sound more interesting. I have also dealt with the newspaper and had them make up stuff that I "said"...hahaha!

The media now is an "attention" grabber, they want your money and the only way they can get your money is through headlines...whether it be the television news, radio or newspapers...they rely on ratings to keep thriving and if they have to lie, cheat, steal and sensationalize something, they are going to do it to make it sound much more interesting and "exciting" than it actually is.

For example, that chimp attack was here in CT. One of the nightly news Headlines was "Chimp Escapes and goes on rampage attack" He didn't escape and he didn't go on a "rampage". He was given medication for Lymes disease, the woman had been around the chimp many times, he was a "good boy" and they believe that the medication or the Lymes Disease made him go crazy. She was at HIS house. He did not escape to anywhere.

I believe about 30% of what is in the media, the rest of it, you have to read, research and then decipher yourself. If they are not going to get a rating for reporting it, you can be 100% sure, they will sensationalize it so they will get a high rating for it.
