Fad Diets that Don't work

Have you ever been on a diet that you thought was working, but after a few weeks (or days, or even hours in the more extreme cases) had you looking at yourself saying "what was I thinking"?

What fad diets have you been on before realizing they just don't work?

Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

Cutting out food groups I think is both a bad idea, and it has never worked for me.  I find it to be torture.  I like diets in which I feel like I am just being healthy and balanced, not doing something crazy and weird to my body.  So, Atkins was certainly never for me.

Simple Advice for a Better Quality of Life!

Hi SallySue:

In short, no fad diet will ever work.  The only "diet" that works is being conscious about what you eat in the first place.  So many people are in such a rush today that they do not take the time to properly eat, instead opting for fast food, take-out, quick microwave heat-up meals or some "fad diet" company's line of over-processed "meals" or "meal-replacement" products.  Sorry, but the body cannot live and thrive on those products alone, because they offer very little nutritional value and once you stop using the product, all the weight comes back.  Even worse so, the body has now adapted to not getting the nutrients it needs (in a sense, you have shocked your body and it will then hang onto the foods you eat after the diet is over and converts them into fat  thinking it will happen again.)  It starts with loving yourself enough to take proper care and educate oneself about what is healthy eating and what is not.  What's the best "diet"?

1.  Learn to eat healthier foods.  Give your body time to adjust to the new foods as you will have cravings for fats and sugars that you need to minimize or eliminate from your regular eating habits

2.  Obviously, begin a solid exercise program that combines brisk walking and weight "lifting".  Building up your muscle mass (you don't have to be the Hulk and I do not recommend that anyway), but having good muscle tone allows you to burn more calories while resting (or while not exercising).

To cap it off SallySue - Our society, I think, needs to stop making excuses and trying to find shortcuts about why they can go eat anything they want and not expect to be overweight.  If we were to change and develop healthy habits from the get-go, there wouldn't be a need to have fad diets.

Live well, be healthy - SallySue!

DIETS DON'T WORK!!!!  People are mistaken if they think going on a diet is going to solve their weight issues.  However, what solves weight issues is talking about why you over eat and what are the triggers that bring you to gouging yourself.  Once these issues clear up you will begin to eat when you are hungry and not when you are angry or lonely, etc.  People eat in response to their feelings rather than response to real hunger pains.  Exercise is the whole answer to losing weight and keeping it off.

Diets are only responsible for less than 25% of weight loss. Exercise is only responsible for 15% of weight loss. The balance of 60% is attributed to using your mind for weight loss.

diets alone won't actually work unless you work it out with a proper daily exercise, well some people take herbal products as a support to their wiegt loss programs
