Best FREE Blog Site? (Blogger vs. Wordpress?)

Can anyone tell me the best free blogging site out there? I'm stuck between Blogger and Wordpress. Can anyone list the pros and cons of each service for me?

I want to move my blog from MySpace to a better system. Would one of these be a good choice? If so, which would you choose and WHY?

I really enjoy facebook.com as it gives the opportunity to keep a blog as well as use other applications that can be extremely entertaining, such as adding pictures, playing games, sending fun gifts to your friends and others.

Wordpress is used by most so called professional bloggers. I personally enjoy blogger for it's ease of use.

If you are planning to have the blog hosted by the company (either at BlogSpot or WordPress.com), then I would say WordPress is the better choice because it gives you more flexibility built-in.  Widgets and themes are WP's hottest features - you can change the look of your blog with a single click, and you can easily add in anything you want on the sidebars.  Blogger lets you do these things too, but they take more steps.  However, with WP, you are limited to the themes they allow you to choose from.  There's a lot of them, and many of them are excellent, but Blogger lets you pick ANY design on the web - you just need a little HTML knowledge to put it on your site.

WP is definitely the choice for "geek" bloggers - people who want to make money using their site, customize their site, etc.  Blogger is for people who just want to write and publish their words on the web without a lot of fuss.

Catch Me If You CAn

Wordpres- A professional blogging platform.

Disadvantage-  >you can;t edit templates.

                       >you can't earn.

Blogger- A good platform if you want to edit your style, themes and earning too.

::Personal view:: opt wordpress if you only want to express your ideas through blogging and not much interested in adds/earning.

 ::I m victim of wordpress::

though wordpress is best but once you put your adds you will be fired and blocked.I wright so much on Why No To Wordpress.com.

before i use http://honeytech.wordpress.com (more than 400000 visitors) but later i switched to my private blog http://honeytechblog.com and very much satisfied as the cost of blog is easily ($8/months) is easily fulfilled by adds ($30-40/months)

Any one wants to more feel free to disturb me anytime.

Born. Having the time of my life. Will die.

It depends on what you need.

I'll go for wordpress.com for a few reasons

  • Categories
  • Static pages
  • Better spam blocker (I think)

Advantages of blogger.com

  • Access to the code, add widgets you want (wordpress has widgets out of a list).
But why not try them both for a while, they are both free and easy to use.

I used Blogger for a family website for quite awhile and went through a nightmare getting the cached pages off the search engines after I deleted it. It was a pretty big learning curve for me without any prior experiece, but in time I felt quite comfortable with managing my blogs - I still have a number of journals on Blogger.

I recently switched to WordPress for the new family blog and was frustrated to no end. It isn't at all like Blogger and the learning curve on this one seems steeper to me by comparison. I finally gave up and am going back to Blogger.

I would love it if someone would come up with something REALLY simple for dopes like me. Embarassed

Good luck folks!
