Eye protection in squash

I'm about to start playing squash with a friend (neither of us ever did it). What's the best eye protection? Is it mandatory or do the players decide for themselves of they want to use it?

well.

it's not mandatory, as I believe.

but for the best, you may use a plastic  spectacles

as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar..the famous basketball player.
