It depends on how bad your vision is and how much it affects your every day life. You should also consult with a doctor to make sure it is the best option for you. While there are a few side effects, everyone that I personally know that has gotten the operation is extremely pleased with the results!

I was late for work this morning, because I got stuck in Zeno's paradox

I also considered having laser surgery on my eyes to correct my vision. I know 2 people who have done it. Both are very happy with the results, but both admit that since the operation their eyes have become very sensitive.  My final decision was not to have the operation, but it's up to you to decide if you think the benefits of the procedure will outweigh the side effects.

I wish you were more specific as to the reason you are considering a laser operation on your eyes. I would then be easier for me to give you better advice. In any event please get a second opinion from another ophthalmologist if it is necessary because in any operation there is always some degree of risk.

I think that anything dealing with a persons health and well-being is important. It depends on how bad your vision is and if it continues to get worse at what rate will it do so. After answering these questions you should weight out the pros and cons.

Personally I wouldn't let anyone mess with my eyes.  What if the doctor makes a mistake in the operation?  What if side effects from laser surgery appear years from now?  I'd rather have glasses or contact lenses than a permanent change to my eyes.

But that's just my viewpoint.  Obviously a lot of smart people perform and undergo laser corrective surgery.  So maybe it will be right for you.

I guess what I'm trying to say -- basically like everyone who has answered the question before me -- is that you should learn about your options and think about the benefits and risks before deciding.
