I have never bought extended warranties on anything over the past 50 years and there was only one item over the years that I would have used it on. That was a microwave, and it basically ended up costing me $112--the extended warranty would have cost me $65. I have found that if an item is going to have problems, it will usually do so during the original warranty period. I have not had extended warranties on my desktop computers or printers since I long ago decided that if they went out in three or four years, it was time to buy new ones anyway because of the new technology available. TWO EXCEPTIONS are that I do have an extended warranty on my laptop, since my grandkids use it and there is such a great risk of dropping it. The warranty I bought covers that, and also entitles me to one free battery, which I will make sure to get before the warranty period is up, so it was economical for me to do so. I also have warranties on my Goodyear tires on my Jeep. It cost me $15 dollars per tire and covers full replacement value for the life of the tire. I have used it twice since I live in an area with many, many potholes and construction going on. The new tires cost me $15 plus taxes and fees. Look at it this way. How many items did you have go bad that an extended warranty would have paid for, compared to how much you would have spent for warranties on ALL your items. I know I have saved thousands. Good luck on whichever way you go. May all your products keep working.
