The question is: Is the expense of one more tooth worth the cost? If you can afford it, great.

Your dentist is the best one to answer your question.

P.S. Glad you're in good health and have good teeth!

If it is an end tooth it may be the only way to restore that tooth, especially if it is a molar, essential for chewing.  If there are teeth adjacent, on either side of the space, it may be better for you to have a fixed bridge, easier, faster, cheaper, and the crowns on the supporting adjacent teeth will help preserve those teeth preventing decay and erosion.  I hope this helps answer your question.

Thanks to everyone who offered answers.  Dr. Kirschener suggested that a bridge might be my best option.  The adjacent teeth are sound and my dentist also agreed that a bridge would be the cheapest and most practical solution to my problem.

In doing earlier research, I discovered that implants are expensive ($4,000) and there is a sucess rate of only 90% for upper teeth where my problem tooth is located.
