Exercise for those with knee problems and recovery from a broken leg last summer

I broke my leg last summer and any form or exercise I find almost impossible to perform, it also affected my knee. Do you have any suggestions?

147 thumbs up

I had a knee injury over a year ago and my physical therapist told me that I should stick to exercises that are easy on my joints, like swimming. I swam the whole year and really loved it. I highly recommend finding a pool near you to join and jump in!

Have you bettered your health today? so you'll live a better tomorow. Think about it!

A very good friend of mine had both knees replaced, and he said every move was worse than the one before. But the more he walked and did little exercise slow, he started to get his strength, also he said walking in a swimming pool was the best thing of all. I hope this helps and good luck, you can do this....

56 thumbs up

If you can tolerate it walking or swimming in the pool is great.

Some gyms have machines that allow you to turn a crank (like a bike flywheel).  It is not ideal but does give aerobic exercise to those with limited mobility.

I also broke my knee last summer and I haven't recoverd my full strenght yet, they told me that it would take from 1 to 2 years to fully recover, i can see the improvement but it is taking so long, be pacient and constant with your exercises, I still do my exercises not matter how tired or much they hurt, you have to keep going!! we will there on time!!
