This item in addition to the previous one of a college permitting men and women to share a dormitory room, to my  mind, shows that college administrations are surrendering their authority and more parents are getting worried over the fact that a college is no longer a secure site devoted to studies. Don't you agree?

Love is the battery of life....

Hi,
No.  The key word is "permitting", they are not forcing it.  So if both want to share a room at the dorms, OK..... if they don't want they still get a room as it used 2B traditionally.....  Please let us not pretend: Even in "the old days" if a guy met a girl and wanted to be together they had million ways to be together.....  so instead of making life tough they made it (by this decision) a bit better.
Best regards,

"What does it profit a man to gain the world if he loses his soul?"

I agree with you and OronD.  Personal responsibility is lacking in some ways, and the mission of the college has changed from pure intellectual education to the sports/party/social club theme.  It's been going on a long time, and I don't see any changes for the foreseeable future.

As long as a degree is more important than an education this is what the future holds for us.  Maybe it's good that everybody has a chance to squander their education as they see fit.  They still have a chance to get an education if that's their choice, and serious students will ultimately prevail.
