How to evaluate/estimate the valuation of an Internet startup knowing only amounts, funding date/events?

Trying to estimate the potential of an Internet startup, knowing only about 1/2 dozen funding events related to the sector and a few related acquisition prices over the past couple years.

You should also consider competition and snoop around to see if other companies develop a similar product or service, and could beat you to it.
