This woman was a very special lady...  She could have sailed through life going to high-profile events and doing nothing, but she chose to go full steam, wholeheartedly promoting events that benefited people who otherwise would never have had much of a voice.  Through her works with and for those with disabilities, many have shined with a confidence that the rest of us without disabilities just take for granted.

She was truly an American great lady!

volunteering for special olympics was like a special privledge that was bestowed upon myself and my husband.  We did it for 10 years and only had to stop recently because my husband became ill.  I would have to thank Eunice Kennedy for creating such a wonderful organization.

This woman was the one who gave the handicapped something to reach for,to feel important, like they mattered in this world. When most people would shy away from someone who is mentally handicapped, she embraced them. For this reason alone,i'm in debt and thankful.I have two mentally handicapped brothers who Special Olympics was something to look forward to.Unfortunately they have been unable to participate in this great event for several years, but the years they did was of great benefit to them.My condolences go out to the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you...Eunice Kennedy Shriver was a beautiful person. Then, now and forever..
