Maybe escaping the bad date isn't the question? I mean any old trick you can do is LAME and the other person will most probably notice. Maybe you can even hurt the other person.
Why not just go along, trying to hang in there through the dinner, or whatever and calling a night early and just not calling again? Normally when you have a bad date, it goes both ways, so probably he's trying to go home early too.
